RECOGNITION LETTER FOR M.B.B.S

MBBS

Sanctioned  Intake seats : 50 Seats

For M.B.B.S.

A candidate belonging to Open Category must obtained not less than 50% (i.e. 150 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination. A candidate belonging to constitutional reservation (Annex. B) backward class & constitutional reservation with physically handicapped claim must have obtained not less than 40% (i.e. 120 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination. Physically handicapped candidate in General Category must secure not less than 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together the at HSC (or equivalent) Examination.

The college has opted to admit those students who have appeared and qualified NEET - examination conducted by MCI.

NEET Marks Eligibility for Admission to MBBS Course :

A candidate belonging to open category must secure not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together at Common Entrance Test i.e. NEET 2013. A candidate belonging to constitutional reservation (Annexure B) & constitutional reservation physically handicapped claim candidate must secure not less than 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together in the NEET-2013. Physically handicapped candidate in General Category must secure not less than 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together in the NEET 2013.

The candidate desirous of claiming the constitutional and / or specified reservations must have claimed the same in the original application form of NEET 2013, failing which the claim will not be entertained subsequently. A candidate belonging to backward class from Maharashtra State only, is eligible for claiming seat under reserved category (Refer Annexure-B).

The Candidates recognized by the State of Maharashtra as belonging to the following Backward Classes, shall alone be eligible to claim admissions as against the seats reserved for such backward class categories. These Backward Class categories are as follows :-

NRI ADMISSIONS

Information regarding NRI admission for M.B.B.S. Course 2014-2015

K.J. Somaiya Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, was founded in the Year 1991 on 22 acre plot located at Somaiya Ayurvihar Campus at  Sion (East), Mumbai.  The institution was started by Somaiya Trust which is engaged in educational and social activities.   The college being centrally located in the city of Mumbai and its teaching hospital providing health care services with best of the faculty to the community is most sought after college for admission purpose.  On  many occasions statistical survey by reputed organizations have put the college on a Higher Rank amongst medical colleges in India.  Excellent performance by it’s students getting best of the results and top ranks in University Examinations has received appreciations letters from the affiliating University (M.U.H.S.) in the past.

The College & Hospital building has more than 2,40,000 sq. ft. area which will be further increased by under going expansion program.  It has hostel in the campus to accommodate students.  The college has 21 departments having attached teaching hospital of 500 beds with all modern facilities.  A large number of the patients takes benefit of health care services every day.  The college fulfils the requirement of Medical Council of India and is recognized for 50 admissions in M.B.B.S. Course each year.  

The admission process is regulated by DMER of State Govt. of Maharashtra which conduct common entrance test during May each year and declares the merit list.  However 15% seats are available for admission against NRI Quota.  Applications for admission from NRI candidates are invited through advertisement in Newspaper and website in Month of June each year.

Following information will be helpful for applicant:

1.  We have 8 NRI seats for academic year 2014-2015 for MBBS Course.

2.  As per Regulations genuine NRI candidates are eligible for admission for these seats.

     Genuine candidates are those whose parents are abroad and the candidate himself is

     also studying abroad.  Foreign Passport holders of Indian origin can also apply   

     against these seats.

3.      Applicant should have passed qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects with minimum 50% marks.

4.      Those applicants who have passed qualifying exam from abroad should obtain Equivalency Certificate of their qualification from abroad to make them eligible for admission.  This is to be obtained from “ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN UNIVERSITIES, 17, KOTLA ROAD, NEW DELHI – 110 001” on submission of original papers of qualifying exam. 

5.  If results are issued in qualifying Grade then the same must be converted into equivalent marks/percentage (mandatory) from your local school.  A letter from the concerned University stating that candidate has obtained 50% marks in each subjects (Physics, chemistry and Biology) should be specifically mentioned.

6.     Students coming from abroad should also submit Leaving Certificate and Migration Certificate from their School/College last attended.

7.    Alongwith the Application Forms applicant should submit copy of Passport, Equivalency Certificate, Copies of qualified exam from abroad and Undertaking from the Parents to bear the Educational Expenses (Fee).

8.  The College will issue Application Forms for NRI admission in the month of June 2014 after issuing advertisement fro the same in Newspaper.

9.      If there are more than 8 applicants, then Merit & Aptitude Interview will be criteria for admission.

10.  On admission the entire fee for 4½ years is to be paid in Foreign Currency to be transferred from abroad or from NRE rupee account through Banking Channel in College account (Fee payment in two  installments may be  allowed on discretion of Management)

11.  If some NRI seats remain vacant, then admission can be granted against those seats to NRI wards (blood relation) in India.  The applicant should submit related documents for the same.  In such case the Applicant should have appeared in  CET 2014 exam with minimum 50% pass marks.

12.  Hostel accommodation is available. The Hostel fee is Rs.1 Lakh for per annum.

13.  All admissions are subject to approval by PRAVESH NIYANTRAN COMMITTEE and MUHS.

The fee charged for the NRI seats is Rs.20 Lakhs per annum. The course is of four and half years duration.
