(K. J. Somaiya Research Institute For Indian Culture)

Established in 1989, the K.J. Somaiya Bharatiya Sanskriti Peetham believes in value oriented education and has accordingly devised a full time course in Indian Culture. The duration of this course is nine months. The Peetham imparts training to teachers and a few others who are involved in social service. It does not merely impart information to teachers but gives them some feel of culture and deepens their insight.

The Government of Maharashtra by its Gr no. P.T.C. /1089/1090/ (173/89) dated 30-08-1990, has recognized the course of the Peetham. What's more, the Government deputes lecturers from B.Ed. colleges for training in the Peetham. The Peetham conducts a consdensed four month long course in Indian Culture for these lecturers.

The Peetham has successfully conducted the following seminars in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy of the University of Bombay:

  • National Seminar on Purushartha in March 1993
  • National Seminar on Veda, Tantra and Aurobindo in March 1995
