1 MAH Girls BN

Annual Training Camp and Thal Sena Selection Camp, NCC

May 20-29, 2008

K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce was entrusted a ten days Residential Camp for 1 MAH Girls BN at Somaiya Vidyavihar during 20-29th May, 2008. The camp was conducted with full cooperation of sister institutions of Somaiya Vidyavihar at the Vidyavihar Campus. The administrative support was provided by I/C principal Dr. J. K. Verma, Vice Principal Smt. Anjali Muzumdar. 192 cadets from senior and junior wings attended the camp. Fifteen   instructors, four office staff, two Girl Cadet Instructors and Dr. Sugandha Shetye ,Caretaker Officer(CTO) attended the camp.. The Board room and a cabin of the Science College was provided to Lt. Col. Sanjay Kumar as his camp office. The A.C room in the International Hostel was made available for the accommodation of the honourable Commanding Officer. The primary and secondary School Classrooms were made available for the accommodation of the girl cadets and instructors. The camp office, Medical Inspection Room ,kitchen, cadet mess, officers’ mess office and medical inspection room were located on the secondary School Premises. The badminton hall was provided for conducting lecture sessions and other activities during the camp. The huge playground and wide roads in the campus were used by the cadets for their morning P.T.sessions, parades and evening games. 

Somaiya Ayurvihar provided the free medical check up facility for the cadets. The medical officers from the Urban Health Centre paid daily visits for two hours and attended sick cadets for minor health problems like fever, muscle pain, asthma, cough etc. They also conducted lecture sessions on health and hygiene for the cadets. The medical officers made use of games, role plays, and skits for disseminating the information in a motivating manner to the cadets.

Mr. Pravin Haria, President, United Adventurers’ Association conducted the adventure activities like rapling and map reading for the cadets.

Staff from the Project office contributed wholeheartedly for plumbing work, electrical fittings, proper water supply and maintaining cleanliness at the campsite.

The camp was concluded in the evening on 28th May, 2008. The commanding officer had invited all the Heads of the sister institutions for the cultural programme at Prayer Hall followed by a sumptuous dinner Barakhana at the badminton hall. The cadets started leaving the campsite in the morning on 29th May, 2008.
