DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY PROFILE

The Department of Geology was established in the year 1968. The department offers undergraduate, graduate and post graduate programmes in Geology. The teaching faculties of the department are recognized Post Graduate teachers for teaching by papers and by research of the University of Mumbai.

The department is actively involved in research. Dr. G.V.Rao, faculty member of the Department, has received industrial grants in 2000-2004, University of Mumbai Research grant 2004-2005 and UGC Minor Research grant 2004-2006, for undertaking research in RS and GIS.

In the year 2004 the University of Mumbai recognized the department for Post Graduate Research. Students are encouraged to opt for M.Sc. by papers as well as M.Sc. by Research.

With the initiation of the Centre for Remote Sensing and GIS, in 2004, several other initiatives that have been undertaken are highlighted in the Centre profile.
