We, at K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, have well established Center for Talent Search which imparts training to the students for STS (State Talent Search) and NTS (National Talent Search) examination. Students studying in VIII Standard are eligible to appear for this examination, which is conducted in two stages.

Information about STS/NTS Examination

Stage I (STS – State Talent Search)

Examination will be conducted on 2nd Sunday, in the month of November by Maharashtra State. Only those students who qualify in this examination will be permitted to appear for NTS Examination.

Stage II (NTS – National Talent Search)

Students who are qualified in STS will be appearing for this examination. This examination will be conducted on 2nd Sunday, in the month of May. Examination patteren will be same as STS examination and it is based upon VIII Standardd syllabus of CBSE. Selected students from NTS examination will be called for interview. 25 marks are allotted for interview. Those students who are awarded NTS Scholarship are eligible to get scholarship till they complete their education.(upto Ph.D. level)

Admission Procedure and Fees

Interested students may collect the application form from Chemistry Department of K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce from 16th April to 30th April, 2009   from the co-ordinator Prof.(Mrs.) S. P. Vaidya  between 10.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. on working days.

Date of submission of filled forms: - 2nd, 4th and 5th May, 2009 between 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

Students securing 80% or more marks in 7th standard examination will be admitted directly.

Waiting list of students with less than 80% marks will be displayed on the notice board on 5thMay, 2009 at 12.30 p.m.

The classes will be conducted twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays (Except College Holidays) from 4.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. (This is subject to change. Details will be put up on the Notice Board on 10th June, 2009.)

Date of Commencing: -          Saturday, 20th June, 2009

                                                STS classes from June, 2009 to October, 2009.

Parents meeting will be held at 04.00 p.m. on 20th June, 2009.

Fees: - Rs.2500/- for STS Training (Including test series which will be conducted during Diwali Vacation) to be paid in the form of DD, favouring, The Principal, K.J. Somaiya college of Science & Commerce.

Note : 1) Books will be made available on 20th June, 2009 during parents’ meeting.
2) Students may buy Science and Social Science books of CBSE course.

‘PRAGATI’ – Foundation Course for Competitive exams

NEW PROGRAMME LAUNCHED!

‘PRAGATI’ – Foundation Course for Competitive exams - to prepare the students for competitive exams which they will be appearing in future.

Eligibility for admission to the Course: 8th Std. students with good academic record and an aptitude for Science and Maths.

Course Content: Complete CBSE syllabus of IX and X Std. Science & Maths with emphasis on concepts and their applications in solving challenging problems.

Duration of the Course: Total of 144 hours extending over a period of three terms from Dec 2008 to March 2010.

Selection Procedure: Our STS students will be given admission based on their performance in the test series. Other students desirous of taking admission have to clear an aptitude test which is conducted in the month of November.

Timings: 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on Sundays.(except during vacations)

Course Fees: Rs. 7500/- for the entire course to be paid by D.D in favour of Principal, K. J. Somaiya College of Science & Commerce.

Announcement for admission to 2009 – 2010 STS course:

Admission to the STS course will commence in the first week of May, 2009. The application forms for the same can be obtained from the office from 16th April to 29th April. The completed application forms are to be submitted between 2nd and 5th May between 10.00 a.m and 12 noon.

Eligilbility: Direct admission to students with more than 80 % Marks in VII Std. Final exam. Students with lesser percentage will be kept in waiting list and their admission will be considered subject to availability of seats.

Duration of the course: One term from June to September ending with Test series (5 tests) during the Diwali vacation.

Timings: 4.30 – 7.30 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays (Tentative) (except on College holidays)

Course Fees: Rs. 2500/- to be paid by D.D in favour of Principal, K. J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce.

Date of STS examination: 2nd Sunday in the month of November. (tentative)

Students who cannot join for regular course can take admission only for Test Series by paying Rs. 700/-. The admission to Test Series will be given in the last week of September.
