Dr. Parikh has a rich research and teaching experience as a faculty member at IIT Bombay spanning over four decades. She has guided 11 Ph D and 74 M Tech theses. She has published numerous journal and conference papers on fuel conservation, alternate fuels and allied topics.

After retiring from IIT Bombay in 2003 she took over the charge as the Director of K J Somaiya College of Engineering. She is a consultant for many projects of the Department of Science and Technology and Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources, Government of India.
