LATE SHRI KARAMSHIBHAI J. SOMAIYA.

         On a historic day of 16-05-1902 a great hero came into  existence  on  this land of myths[INDIA]. As we all know the people of India believe & know that India is a land of great historic personalities. There were and are many great personalities who have strived hard to make India stand on International stands. One amongst these are Late Shri  Karamshi  Jethabhai  Somaiya. He had many great qualities and one amongst it was that he sowed the seeds which grew up into a tree and is now standing divinely spreading it's branches not only to provide us with shelter & comfort but also helping the children to make their future bright.

         Actually this towering personality was an amalgam of Laxmi & Saraswati deities. He established SOMAIYA's Vidyavihar, Tantravihar, Sanskritvihar and Ayurvihar which forms the milestone in the world of education extending in many states. Shri Shetji's  contribution to the field of education is an immeasurable gift to the society and is also unforgettable and unequaled. Suchi Shriman K. J. Somaiya is no more, he had left the country for heavenly abode on 09-05-1999.

         But this great personality is still amongst us and living in the form of his principles and philosophies which are of a great guidance to us and the mankind for achieving success.  Shri Shetji still remains in the hearts of millions and millions, who loved him and worshipped him.

ABOUT OUR INSTITUTE :

          Somaiya Vidyavihar is one of the few education centres in India imparting  education in almost all fields of life. Campus is like a deemed University humming with academic activities ranging from K.G to p.G level. The Somaiya Vidyavihar is diversified into four main disciplines namely Vidyavihar, Ayurvihar, Tantravihar and Sanskritivihar.

                   K. J. Somaiya Polytechnic was established in the year 1963,with rich donations from our founding father Suchishriman  Karamshi  J. Somaiya. It started with 3 years full-time diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical  & Electrical Engineering with intake of 40 seats per branch. The intake was increased to 60 per branch from the year 1966. To cater to the needs of employed students the institute started with 4 year diploma programmes  in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering from September 1981. The Academic Autonomy was granted to us in 1994 under World Bank assisted projects. Now we are running full-fledged autonomous Full-Time and Part-Time Diploma Programmes.
