Our Founder

Padmabhushan (Late) Shri Karamshi Jethabhai Somaiya

Padmabhushan (Late) Shri Karamshi Jethabhai Somaiya, an entrepreneur, philanthropist and visionary, established Somaiya Trust in the year 1953. A self made man, simple and compassionate, he dedicated his life to the service of mankind. He was committed to the ideal of “what you receive from society give back multifold”.

Recognising the need for imparting value-based education to today’s youth, he founded Somaiya 
Vidyavihar.

Somaiya Vidyavihar is presided over by Justice P N Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India. Also, 
it is guided by Dr S K Somaiya, Mrs Leela Kotak, Mr Samir Somaiya and Mr P M Kavadia.

Our Founder’s dream fulfilled .....

Somaiya Vidyavihar comprises a sprawling 60 acre campus at Vidyavihar and 35 acre campus at Sion in the heart of the city of Mumbai. Founded in the year 1959, it is the largest educational campus in Mumbai. 

Somaiya Vidyavihar has 34 Institutions with a strength of 27,000 students and 1500 teaching staff. It provides quality pedagogy integrated with value based education.

About K J Somaiya Vocational Training Institute

The Institute was established in 1988 by Late Padmabhushan Shriman K J Somaiya to provide job oriented training programmes of 1 and 2 years duration for post secondary students. The courses are autonomous, with flexible need based curriculum. The training provided by the Institute is rated high and students find placement in reputed organisations or become entrepreneurs.
