Robocon

Robocon, short for Robotic Contest, is an interesting game - cum - intellectual exercise for budding engineers and their enthusiastic instructors, determined to innovate and create machines for producing desired results. International Robocons are mainly sponsored by Asia- Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), a collection of over 20 countries of Asia pacific region.

K.J.Somaiya Institute Of Engineering And Information Technology has been taking part since past 3 years in the Asia's biggest robotics contest- ABU ROBOCON. The Team’s first appearance in ABU-ROBOCON was  in the year 2013. Although this was our first step in the International arena, the team’s design and approach were highly appreciated. The team comprises of 30 ingenious engineers from different departments and batches brimming with technical knowledge, practical approach and management skills.

The team continued its journey and participated for the second time in  2014. We remained unbeaten and secured 48th rank out of 90 teams. But  we did not stop there. We worked day and night for 7 months almost everyday to achieve something we always dreamt of. In team's third attempt in 2015 our hard work had paid off and we secured 12th position at the national level. The contest theme for this year is "Chai-Yo : Clean Energy  Recharging the World”.

To achieve something as this stature there is a need of technical, financial and motivational support. Apart from our team’s collective efforts it was only possible because of the immense support of our mentor Prof. Prashant Upadhyay and our Principal Dr.Dilip R Pangavhane, other teaching and non teaching staff as well as the other robotic enthusasts from our college. They only inspired us to set high standards for this contest. Now our target is to secure highest position at the national level and cherish our team’s presence at the internationals, which will be held in Bangkok in 2016. It will be a challenge for us but we believe in making progress!
