Dr. Srivari Chandrasekhar is an eminent scientist and Former Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Science & Technology. Highly esteemed both nationally and internationally, Dr. Chandrasekhar gained recognition when he was featured in Asian Scientist Magazine's list of "8 Scientists from India to Watch," alongside other notable figures such as Bharat Ratna Prof. CNR Rao and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.
Dr. Chandrasekhar has an impressive track record of over 300 publications and 22 patents,which have received more than 7,000 citations. His innovative approaches have not only contributed to the academic community but have also resulted in practical applications,including collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry to develop economically viable processes and lead compounds.
As an intellectual leader, Dr. Chandrasekhar has mentored 80 Ph.D. students to completion, and currently, 20 more are pursuing their research under his guidance. His commitment to excellence has been recognized through numerous accolades including the A V Rama Rao Chair in 2020, multiple CSIR Technology Awards, the Golden Jubilee Commemoration Medal from the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), and various other prestigious prizes such as the Infosys Prize and the Astra Zeneca Research Endowment Award. Academically, Dr. Chandrasekhar is a triple alumnus of Osmania University and has further enriched his scientific expertise through post-doctoral fellowships at renowned institutions such as the University of Texas and as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Goettingen.
