K. J. The program is scheduled at Somaiya Vidyavihar campus from 25th to 27th  June. The training program will deliver municipal authorities, civil society groups, private sector and local communities, students and citizens the chance to improve the understanding of natural resource base.

Dr. Sugandha Shetye, Dean, Academics, K J Somaiya College of Science and Commerce, says, “These modules are thoughtfully designed to get hands-on experience from world-class experts enabling a strong network of sustainability thought leaders coming from diverse fields. We are proud to partner with MMR- EIS for developing and conducting a program for local government officials and community members seeking to address today's complex environmental challenges at the local level. We believe that it is time for academicians to participate in the development of our city – and what better way than this”.

The program was developed by the Module co-coordinator Architect Malak Singh, Faculty, School of Environment and Architecture and it helps examine sustainability principles as they apply to Mumbai’s environment from the economic, environmental and social-equity perspectives. The training program will also enhance the individuals, organizations and the society as a whole to become a major governance of environmental and natural resources.

Malini Krishnankutty, Secretary, MMREIS, says, “The program launched in 2016, has received tremendous response from individuals and organizations. Environment sustainability needs a combination of passion for the environment as well as a good understanding of the science and technology needed to actually make it happen. Our tie up with K J Somaiya College of Science and Commerce with its capabilities and capacities in educating about environment sciences has given a fillip to our capacity building program”.

Founded in 1959, K J Somaiya College of Sciences and Commerce is an educational conglomerate located at Mumbai and it values the blending of spiritual education along with the advanced Science education.
