  • Abstract

To promote student learning, developing skills along with academic achievement it is necessary to brand cooperative learning environment in the classroom. One of such technique is Jigsaw, which arranges classroom activity in such a way that it makes students reliant on each other to be successful. It breaks classes into groups and breaks lessons into fragments that the group accumulates to complete the (jigsaw) puzzle. This paper is a reflection of executing Jigsaw classroom for third year B.Tech students for wireless communication course. The class of 28 students is divided into 4 groups of seven students each (jigsaw group). The content of wireless network chapter is split within each member of jigsaw group. Each jigsaw group member with the same topic forms an expert group. The expert group has to prepare only chunk of the entire chapter and have responsibility of transmitting their expertise to the jigsaw group. Finally, the jigsaw groups reconvene and listen to presentations with the assistance of ICT tools from each member. The final presentations offer all jigsaw group members with an understanding of their own material as well as the discoveries that have appeared from topic-specific group deliberations. Such learning environment makes intelligence in comprehensive classrooms because it shapes upon heterogeneity and encourages peer backing and connection. Feedback analysis reveals that 96% percent of students agree that such learning environment helped them to develop positive interdependence, social skills, face-to-face interactions and group appraisal.
