As Chairman and Managing Director of Godavari Biorefineries Ltd., he drives the company's sustainable solutions for renewable chemicals and biofuels. Additionally, he holds key positions as the Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University and President of Somaiya Vidyavihar, contributing significantly to academic excellence and educational development. He also holds the position of President, Indian Chamber of Commerce, advocating for economic growth and trade.
Samir Somaiya's influence extends beyond education and business. He serves as the Chairman of K. J. Somaiya Trust, K. J. Somaiya Medical Trust, K. J. Somaiya Institute of Applied Agriculture Research, and The Girivanvasi Pragati Mandal, organizations dedicated to social welfare, education, and medical advancements. Furthermore, Samir Somaiya actively contributes to academia as a Visiting Instructor at the School of Chemical Engineering - Cornell University. He is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Dynamic Sustainability Laboratory at Syracuse University. Dr. Nandkumar Gilke is Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering in K J Somaiya College of Engineering for the last 28 years. He served as ex-member of Management Council, Academic Council and Faculty of Technology of University of Mumbai.
Controller of Examinations
Dr. R G Karandikar is Professor, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering of K J Somaiya College of Engineering since May 1990. He is an Electrical Engineer by qualification. He holds Diploma, UG and PG degrees from the University of Mumbai from V. J. T. I. Mumbai -19 and Ph.D. from IITB Mumbai.
He has passion for the education field and hence selected it as a career. He has a sound technical background and has developed professional expertise in his chosen field. He has authored books for undergraduate engineering students and has publications to his credit in international / national journals and conferences. He has also guided students for post graduate dissertations and doctoral research work.
He has rich experience of academic administration and was Dean (Academic Program) of K J Somaiya College of Engineering for one decade. He is passionate about paperless office i.e. e-office concept and he is practicing it by developing systems for administration and data and information management. He has developed expertise about administrating the accreditation and approval processes.
He served as ex-member of BOS of University of Mumbai and is Controller of Examination of Somaiya Vidyavihar University since November 2019.
Chief Finance and Accounts officer
Faraz Kagalwalla is a Chartered Accountant and he completed his Masters in Management Studies Degree in finance from K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai. He has over 3 decades of rich experience in the finance industry working with leading public limited companies including various listed companies and startups. Mr Faraz has been with the K J Somaiya Group as Chief Finance Officer and Treasurer since 2014 and Chief Finance Officer of Somaiya Vidyavihar University since its inception.
