The Somaiya Medical Trust founded by Padma Bhushan Shri K J Somaiya in 1991 continues to carry forward his legacy of ‘Being of Service to Humanity’.

The medical trust is the Somaiya Trust’s contribution to the welfare of the nation, by building quality medical institutions that make healthcare accessible to all and creating well qualified medical & nursing professionals to meet the ever-growing health needs of the country.

Somaiya Ayurvihar, spread over 28-acres, in the heart of Mumbai city, comprises of a Charitable Hospital, Medical college, Physiotherapy College and a School and College of Nursing. K J Somaiya Hospital is a 550 bedded multi-specialty tertiary care hospital, with a comprehensive Intensive Care Facility including Neo-Natal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, a state-of-the-art Casualty Service, 9 Major & 2 Minor Operation Theatres, 24×7 Radiology & Pathology Services, an HIV treatment centre and a Blood Bank, along with an Ayurveda and Panchakarma Centre.

Our Expansion

In 2016, K J Somaiya Hospital Super Specialty Centre was launched. Spread over a 50,000 sq. ft. area it encompasses state-of-the-art operation theatres, a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, ICU, in-patient beds, and patient waiting areas.

Our Activities

To make affordable, holistic and quality healthcare available for patients who cannot visit the hospital, various health camps are held by the hospital across Mumbai, rural Maharashtra and Karnataka.

K. J. Somaiya Hospital’ s various community outreach programmes include helping expecting mothers, children and their families through immunization and various innovative awareness programs that will enable the community to live a healthy lifestyle; programmes at urban and rural health centers to train the community to train their peers hence helping make a much larger impact for a healthy world.
