Institutional Ethics Committee

As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) Notification on Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism In Higher Educational Institutions Regulations, 2018 dated 23rd July, 2018, and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) requirement, an Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) is established at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai. The primary objective of this committee is to uphold best practices and address any instances of misconduct within the university and its constituent units. The Ethics Committee is pivotal in promoting ethical conduct, ensuring integrity, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism in research and academic activities within the university.

The Ethics Committee is entrusted with the following responsibilities:

• Ensuring that all academic publications, including research papers, book chapters, etc., adhere to the guidelines specified by UGC.
• Educating and encouraging students and faculty members to maintain the highest level of academic integrity in their research and scholarly endeavors.
• Providing guidance and counseling to student and faculty members who inadvertently fail to comply with the guidelines and recommending appropriate actions as necessary.
