Somaiya Vidyavihar organizes Human Equations 2010

Mumbai December 3, 2010, K.J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research, Mumbai is organizing Human Equations, the annual HR event on 10th December 2010 at the SIMSR auditorium. Every year, industry professionals as well as B school students from all over the country will attend this event.
This year, the event focuses on the theme „HR as a Profit Center?. Through this theme, the management students aim to explore if the HR division can shed its traditional image of a cost center and place itself on par with the other revenue driving functions of the organization. The event will focus on how HR professionals can strive towards making the HR function, a strategic centre of business excellence for an organization.
„Vivaadh? - The Corporate Debate, and „Samikaran? – The B School Case Study Competition are the main events of Human Equations. Cash prizes worth Rs. 31,000 will be awarded to the winners of the case study competition.

‘VIVAADH’ – THE CORPORATE DEBATE

A fresh take on the conventional panel discussion, this event will showcase acclaimed industry speakers, from various professions, go head to head as they debate over the topic „HR as a Profit Center?. HR professionals will defend the motion, proving through corporate initiatives and HR matrices that the HR department of an organization can shed its traditional image of a cost center. To stimulate further discussion and debate, industry professionals from Operations, Marketing and Finance backgrounds will be present to challenge the HR view. A better understanding of people and business, greater openness to multiple views and a stronger learning that transcends functional barriers – these are a glimpse of the outcomes that this event promises to deliver.

‘SAMIKARAN’ – THE B SCHOOL CASE STUDY COMPETITION

„Samikaran? is the Sanskrit word for Equation. As the name suggests, the Case Study competition of Human Equations 2010, is all about striking the perfect balance – between creativity and content, innovation and feasibility, theory and hard facts and most importantly, between people and business. The original case study, prepared by the students of SIMSR, is based on the business and HR policies of a fictitious retail organization. It contains the right mix of descriptive and quantitative data to facilitate in depth and cutting edge analysis, keeping in line with our theme of „HR as a Profit Center?. The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world?s largest association for HR professionals, is our Knowledge Partner for Samikaran - The B School Case Study Competition. SHRM will be publishing the original case study prepared by the HR students of SIMSR, as well as the winning solution.
