Dr. Shivangi Viral Thakker has been working with K J Somaiya School of Engineering (Formerly known as K J Somaiya College of Engineering) since 2005 in the Mechanical Engineering department. She has completed a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in CAD/CAM and Robotics. She completed her Ph.D. in Supply chain management in 2021 and received the Best PhD thesis award from MNIT, Jaipur, during the doctoral consortium in 2021.
She is currently working in agricultural waste management and exploring green hydrogen production methods. She has received grants from Mumbai University, DST, and SVU for research on stubble waste management and green hydrogen generation. She has been conferred the Dr. S. K. Somaiya Award for Excellence in Research during the Foundation Day celebration in 2025.
