Rohan Rajendra Kothurkar - K J Somaiya School of Engineering

Dr. Rohan Kothurkar has 14+ years of combined teaching and industry experience in Mechanical Engineering, with expertise in production processes, material science, finite element analysis, engineering mechanics, CAD modeling, biomechanics, and biomaterials. His industry experience includes roles in production and planning, while his academic career has focused on interdisciplinary research and translational healthcare applications.

His primary research interests include biomechanics, gait analysis, musculoskeletal modeling, finite element analysis, rehabilitation engineering, and machine learning applications in healthcare. His work particularly focuses on knee biomechanics, lower-limb deformities, osteoarthritis, total knee replacement, and movement analysis using motion capture systems and force plates. He has contributed to several research projects involving gait analysis in children and elderly populations, rehabilitation studies, orthopedic biomechanics, and assistive device development.

Dr. Kothurkar actively collaborates with leading clinicians, hospitals, physiotherapists, and biomechanics laboratories across India. He serves as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE Journal and is an Editorial Board Member of Apollo Medicine Journal . He has reviewed 100+ manuscripts for more than 25 international journals and has published research papers, book chapters, and patents in the areas of biomechanics, rehabilitation, and orthopedic applications.
