Dr. Radhika Kotecha is a Professor and Head of the Information Technology (IT) Department, and Chairperson of the Board of Studies in IT at K J Somaiya Institute of Technology, Mumbai. She is also a Member of the Board of Studies in IT at the University of Mumbai. She holds a Ph.D. and M.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence from Nirma University, Ahmedabad.
With a strong commitment to societal advancement through research and development, she has led the development of impactful digitization and research-based technological solutions that have been transformed into products and used by non-profit organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and industry, including Tata Power, the India Meteorological Department, and the Mumbai Police. She has secured funded research and consultancy projects worth INR 85 lakhs, along with grants worth INR 60 lakhs in cash and kind for establishing an industry-sponsored lab, organizing Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), and mentoring other higher education institutions to strengthen their innovation ecosystems.
She has also authored 2 books, published 40+ research papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings, holds patents and registered copyrights, and serves as a reviewer for reputed journals and conferences. She has been delivering expert talks in her areas of research, including Artificial Intelligence, Weather Analytics, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Dr. Radhika has been conferred with National Award for Best Research by a Young Teacher from the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Best Head of Department Award from the Computer Society of India (CSI), S. K. Somaiya Award for Promising Faculty – Higher & Technical Education, and Sevavrati Mahila Award, among others, for her contributions to teaching, research, and academic leadership. She has also been serving as an Innovation Ambassador, recognized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), for the past 6 years.
Passionate about guiding youth in technological advancement, Dr. Radhika balances experience with dynamism and is committed to quality work and to achieving national and global goals.

Weather-based Short-Term Load Prediction using Artificial Intelligence – for Tata Power — with India Meteorological Department, Maharashtra State Load Despatch Centre
Instantaneous electrical load forecasting system that enables power companies to plan their daily operation ahead of time, avoid any disruptions to their customers and evade incurrence of additional costs — considers meteorological characteristics of the forecasting day along with the historic load as well as weather data and applies AI/ML algorithms to learn load consumption patterns. Focuses on SDG 11.

Portal that enables professionals, students, and technical institutes across the nation to connect with the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) in an Online Mode. Aligned to the Digital India mission, the portal replaces the paper-based process and enables data management seamlessly.
