Arihant Kumar Jain - K J Somaiya Institute of Dharma Studies

Dr. Arihant Kumar Jain is an Assistant Professor and a recognized Ph.D. Guide at the Centre for Studies in Jainism, K. J. Somaiya Institute of Dharma Studies, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai.He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Deptt. of Philosophy, University of Mumbai. He has also served as Visiting Faculty in the Department of Philosophy, University of Mumbai. He has five books to his credit so far, out of which he is the author of three and editor of two. He is the Honorable Member of Board of Studies as Subject Expert in Department of Philosophy at Bhavan's College (Autonomous), Mumbai.

He has represented Jainism at an International Conference held in Colombo (Srilanka) and has presented his research papers in about 25 National and International seminars & more than 18 of his research articles have also been published in various reputed research journals. He has also played an important role in coordinating National and International conferences as well as conducting the Prakrit Lecture Series and National Seminars & Webinars as Convenor, sponsored by ICPR and ICHR.

He has directed a documentary film ‘Prakrit Language – An Ancient Prosperous Tradition’, depicting the historical and archaeological importance of Sravanabelagola (Karnataka), which has been screened in a couple of National and International film festivals. He is the founding Hon. Editor of 'The Prakrit Times International eNewsletter' for the promotion and propagation of the oldest Prakrit language and literature globally, as well as an Associate Editor of Jain Avenue Web Magazine (jainavenue.org).

He has been awarded UGC NET-JRF and Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Post Doctoral Fellowship from UGC, New Delhi. He got Best Performer Award at National Level One Month Faculty Induction Programme, organised by Teaching Learning Centre under PMMMNMTT scheme, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. He has been honored with the ‘Rashtriya Gaurav Award’ and ‘Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami Sravanabelagola Memorial Shriphal Patrakarita Award’ for his innovative contribution.
