Dr Arijit Chakraborty is a skilled researcher focusing on iodine nutrition, thyroidal disorders including male infertility, molecular endocrinology & metabolism. 

His first step of this academic journey started with B.Sc. (Honors) in Human Physiology securing Gold Medal from President of India for first-class-first position in 2008. Subsequently he enrolled in Masters degree programme from University of Calcutta and was awarded with Gold Medal for his accolades in 2010. He enrolled himself in the same University for pursuing his PhD programme and was awarded the degree in 2016. During his entire course, he was awarded with three Young Scientist Awards from The Physiological Society of India (PSI) including one international Young Scientist recognition from South Asian Association of Physiologists (SAAP). He has published lot number of research articles in National and International Journals of repute which got special attention including press mentions especially working with iodine nutrition. 

He persuaded his postdoctoral research work securing prestigious scholarships from Govt of India viz. UGC-DS Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship  and DST-SERB National Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2017 in Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He has also done his collaborative research with University of Florence, Italy and University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has been keen in knowing the insights of iodine physiology in molecular endocrinology and as such he was awarded Life Member from Society for Study in Reproduction and Infertility (ISSRF), New Delhi. He established himself as an independent researcher by securing a research grant where he was the Principal Investigator (PI) from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science & Technology (DST), Gov of India amounting 19.2 lakhs in 2018. 

During the duration of his research programme he decided to dedicate his knowledge for academic purpose thus choosing to shift from the role of purely a researcher to that of a teacher as he was appointed as Faculty Member in Acharya Jagadis Chandra Bose College, University of Calcutta (2012-2017). He also has post-graduate teaching experience as an Assistant Professor in The Assam Royal Global University till early 2021. He supervised twenty-two Master degree dissertations which largely are in the process of publication in reputed international journals. He was the Member of the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) for monitoring and mentoring PhD students for a period of 2019-2021 (February). He is also Life member of The Physiological Society of India (PSI), Federation of Indian Physiological Societies (FIPS) and International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS). He served as an Executive Committee Member in PSI from the period 2016-2019. He is presently a Member of University IQAC Committee, Board of Studies in Sports and Exercise Science, UGC Task force LOCF, Life Skills and Paramarsh in Somaiya Vidyavihar University among others.

He serves an Editorial Board Member in many National and International Journals viz. American Journal of Biomedical and Life Sciences, USA; Cancer Informatics, SAGE publishing group, USA and Editor-in-Chief of Indiana Journal of Life Sciences, Indiana Publishing group, India. He published more than 42 research articles, 10 book chapters, writer of 2 books and at present Assistant Professor & Course Coordinator, Department of Sports and Exercise Science, Somaiya Sports Academy, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai.
