Sangeetha A V, wins a Gold Medal in the 2017-2018 National Level Mathematics Olympiad

Mumbai: Sangeetha A V, a student of class VIII of K J Somaiya English Medium School (a rural school of Somaiya Vidyavihar), won a Gold Medal in the 2017-2018 National Level Mathematics Olympiad. Over 84,682 students from 23 states across India participated in the competition. 

K J Somaiya English Medium School provides holistic education, focusing on the all-round development of students. Besides participating in Olympiads, Sangeetha participates in music, sports, and dance. Says Sangeetha, “I am overwhelmed on winning a gold medal in the National Level Maths Olympiad. The recognition for my efforts gives me confidence. I was motivated by the support and encouragement of the school management, principal, and my maths teacher."

“I attribute Sangeetha’s achievement to her hard work and determination”, said Sachin Hosatti, Sangeetha’s mathematics teacher, and mentor. 

“We always encourage students to participate in Olympiads as they strengthen the preparation for competitive exams”, said Anilkumar.C, Principal of K J Somaiya English Medium School. When asked about her plans, Sangeetha said, “I intend to pursue a career in technology”.

NLMO (National Level Mathematics Olympiad) is a Competitive Examination organized by the National Teacher Council for all students from class III to class X. The Mathematics Olympiad aims at testing the knowledge and competency of students in Mathematics. The competition was held on 17th November 2017 and the results were declared on 27th January 2018.
