The use of electricity to power a vehicle is becoming a norm. With this, research is being conducted to increase the efficiency and capacity of harnessing renewable energy to power vehicles. In this paper, solar panels are mounted on the roof and under the hood of a retrofitted vehicle. The objective of this paper is to Design an automated (self-powered) mechanism to utilize the Standby/parking time of a vehicle to harness solar energy and partially power the electronic components of the vehicle by the mounted solar panels.
