Teaching quality and Non-academic responsibilities of Teachers
- Abstract
Teachers are no different from any other profession in that they are likely to encounter work-related stress. The foundation and guide for the growth of children and the nation as a whole is the quality of the teaching in an educational system. The country's productivity declines when education quality declines. All educational institutions operating in the nation must place a strong emphasis on raising the standard of instruction they deliver. Many educational institutions are currently becoming more commercialized and primarily focused on obtaining grades, certifications, rankings, and recognitions. The goal of the current study is to find out how non-academic obligations impact the Caliber of education. A descriptive research methodology was employed in the study to analyse the effects of non-academic obligations on the Caliber of instruction. Information was acquired from teachers who work in higher education. This study found that extracurricular activities had a considerable negative impact on India's teaching standards. The research revealed that the effects of excessive administrative work on teachers includes anxiety, depression, overburden, difficulty juggling personal and professional obligations, lack of interest in teaching, cancelling lectures, not having enough time for subject preparation, working continuously even after working hours, no time for self-improvement, and other effects. In order to combine academic and non-academic tasks without sacrificing teaching quality, higher education institutions and regulators should collaborate to develop policies, strategies, and methodologies. If this is the case, students will have improved survival skills, which would eventually lead to an increase in youths' total output.
